Forget the Oscars - last night all eyes were on Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston.

The leading ladies came face to face as they shared the same stage at a charity event ahead of the awards ceremony.

They were hosting the “Night Before” gala in their first encounter since Angelina got together with Jennifer’s ex Brad Pitt.

Jennifer, 39, and Angelina were billed to host the event along with an array of stars including Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

In an ironic twist, the last time the women saw each other was at the same event three years ago - when Jennifer and Brad made their final appearance as a couple.

This year, Brad, 44, accompanied Angelina while Jennifer arrived alone.

A source said: “It’s something Angelina has been longing for.

“She genuinely wants to reach out to Jennifer and build some kind of a bridge.”

“Jennifer is over him, she knows she is Angelina’s Achilles heel and she feels confident and in a position of power again.

“There’s no spite left but Jennifer will try and score fashion and beauty points off her her rival to show Brad what he left behind.”

Meanwhile, Angelina, 32, has still not confirmed her pregnancy, but by the looks of her expanding waistline, there is very little doubt that the star is expecting a child.

Sporting a figure-hugging black dress, the star revealed a baby bump at the Spirit awards in Santa Monica earlier as she refused to acknowledge any congratulations.
